Things that have been removed:
There were 22 color themes, now there are 7.
A great deal of support for CSS/html has been eliminated.
The word “friend” has been removed all together, now you have “Mutual subscribers” who then have the option to exchange shares.
The Recent group discussions tab used to feature the last 3 posts with avatars of the posters, now it shows 2 without avatars, just stumbler names.
Stumbler tag clouds are no more, now there is a drop-down list of frequently used tags.
The “Send All” feature has been removed from the share features but is, for now, still available via the web toolbar.
“Grid view” is no longer the default view for all Stumblers pages.
Things that are new:
The “Blog” feature has been improved as now when you edit a blog entry your “Blog Title” remains and does not vanish and turn into a time stamp upon save.
The GetSatisfaction forum has been implemented as an effective way to give feedback and receive prompt answers to your questions.
In place of the “Send All” feature you now have the ability to select multiple Stumbers to send a favorite to with great ease.
A sleek new skin made up of transparent images.
The new default view for every Stumblers page is “List view”.
Things that will potentially be added later:
A place to keep track of your SENT stumbles in addition to the existing incoming sends log.
The ability to set your default to “Review” rather than “list or Grid”.

One thing that isn’t mentioned here is the “# of views” thing that now shows on the review page. I think its a neat little feature because you can tell how many people have looked at a web site in relation to the number of ppl that actually thumbed it up.

Has the issue of, using myself here as an example, my having to re-log in to SU after I visit various stumbles been resolved?
October 29th, 2009 at 9:17 am
older version was better. we need more creative theme. one theme must be editable.
October 29th, 2009 at 9:22 am
thanks – not entirely accurate, friend has been replaced with “mutual subscribers who can direct share”.
Mutual subscribers can’t send pages without both ticking a box. No notification is given of this to either party should they do so.
I think I’m getting the hang of stumble-speak now. First take a simple concept, make it verbose and unnecessarily complicated. Then take a word say ‘Implemented’ now you and I would think that means they’ve done something about say the ‘tag cloud’ or the colours – but no in stumble-speak ‘implemented’ means “we’ve done all we are going to do so shut up and stop moaning and if you don’t like it you can go forth and multiply. Oh and you want to keep track of Friends, sorry Mutual Subscribers who can Direct Share? Not a chance – why would you want to be notified of subscriptions – after all a spammer just wants to send the same damn page to everyone irregardless of their interests. Welcome to V4

My issue is the lack of community spirit in v4. Having “friends” is just that, subscribers is newspapers.
Interaction should be enhanced in v4 not dampened as evidenced by the lack of “friend request,” and ease of communication one on one.
Selecting multiple stumbler to send sites to is a definite community oriented improvement. More of those features please!

Bring back the tag cloud!!!!!!!!!!
Make a system to categorize friends by type of material they enjoy.
Make an easy way to search if another member has already stumbled a page to reduce multiple sends of same material.

I am excited and look forward to the changes. Thank you for improving and your considerations.

@Curtis, do you have your toolbar set to log you out when you close your browser? I am just guessing….
@arnab, yeah that would be really nice. Somewhat like the old Carbon theme was.
@Charles, Thanks for your comment and thoughts but I do fail to see where I was inaccurate I said: “The word “friend” has been removed all together, now you have “Mutual subscribers“.” Which is true… you could also add to that that Mutual Subscribers have the option to send/receive direct shares should they choose.
October 29th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
It’s crap. All of it.
October 29th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
It’s inaccurate because Friend is a mutual subscriber who can direct share. Not simply a Mutual Subscriber
In Classic SU friends could share.
Then came subscribers, you could subscribe to someone, and benefit from their discoveries
It was then possible to be Friends with someone but not subscribe.
Now we are back to the beginning where subscribers are fans – and a Friend is a Mutual Subscriber who can direct share, in the same way my foot is the appendage I perambulate on.
I can be mutually subscribe but unless I pro-actively tick the direct share button – I wont be able to share – whereas Friends have always been able to share, hence Mutual Subscribers is not the same as friends

I apologize, I see now where you are going with this. I did not intend to mislead people into thinking “friends” were replaced by “Mutual Subscribers”. There is no replacement for the word “friend” it is gone completely. That was what I was attempting to state.
I have corrected my post to be more specific now, I hope that clears up any possible confusion. There was also a link for the words “Mutual Subscribers” that would explain this in more depth to anyone who was unsure of the meaning.
Thank you Charles, for helping to make this post even more accurate, please let me know if there is anything else you feel should be added. I know I must have left some things out.

Simple question. Why can’t we have this option on our Stumble Blogs (i.e. threaded comments with the “owner” in full control of access, moderation etc)
This feature would make SU the most intelligent of all the Social Networking tools…
October 30th, 2009 at 2:05 am
That would be kind of neat, glad you like the way I have my blog set up enough to wish SU did it this way too! I’ll take that as a high compliment. Thanks!
October 30th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
I do not like it!
October 30th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
Thank you for doing this.
The new versions generate so much passion, both for good and bad. I’ve linked to you in my sticky and I’ll start track the status of some of the features that you mention here this weekend.
October 30th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
I like the way that My Favorites are shown, but the one big problem is after a while, some of the links go away so your spot is empty. It would be really nice if your could at least delete favorites if you cannot edit them.
November 3rd, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Well,I don’t like the new version at all.
It is more complicated for nothing!
Can someone explain why all theese changes are done.Changes should be done for the better, not for the reverse…..
Thank you.

Vicious mutilation of the right to choose.
November 24th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
I find the inability to edit and customize my posts , to create a story, to be funny, to be serious, is a step backward. By not having a visual editor, SU is no more than a picture folder for storing picts. I enjoy sharing with my friends and have developed some relationships on Su. This will go away. I have learned a lot about HTML using Su. When I am forced to switch I will be gone. Thanx for the short time of enjoyment SU.

“Vicious mutilation of the right to choose.” I second that motion.
That, and new SU is ugly. Like… ‘drunk, Art-Deco-obsessed Graphic Designer’ ugly. Most puke-worthy.
Remember kids, graphic designers are NOT necessarily website designers.

With visual editor gone….I’m afraid I’m gone too. Such a shame, I really loved SU, but I have other ways of storing pics…..which V4 has reduced the SU interface to. SU have fallen into the trap of trying to fix something that was not broken! Shame, shame, shame!

Its weird that version 4 seems to have a few bugs. I stumble far too much but I still love it! SU 4ever! In fact just before I arrived here I saw this page by a clever dude trying to utilise stumble to pay for his degree!
January 11th, 2010 at 6:49 pm
hmm that doesn’t sound clever at all, that sounds like spamming. I removed your url since you ARE that “clever dude trying to utilise stumble to pay for his degree”.
HINT: Don’t spam my site, I’ll make YOU pay instead of the other way around.
HINT #2: Before you can get a degree you need to learn how to spell “utilize”.
