How to become (kinda) Tumblr Famous

Author: admin | Filed under: Animation, Digital art, Fun, Geek, Sexy, Tumblr

Step one: Make a tumblr blog and then theme it with a decent theme (note: you can skip steps 2 onward if you know how to make your own wicked cool theme and promote it).
Step two: Learn how to make animated gif’s.
Step three: Make lots of animated gif’s and post them all the time.
Step four: Post the url to your ask box a couple times a day and then answer totally random questions from your followers.
Step Five: Reblog other gif makers so the word gets out that you’re cool. Wait for your follower count to rise to the skies.

Here are a couple tumblrs that have done just that:

Sure there are other ways to become tumblr famous, you can create epic youtube videos and hope they take off and what not but creating gif’s is the easiest way I know to climb the ladder fast!

The Poisoned Candy Scare is a Hoax

Author: admin | Filed under: Animation, Food, Fun, News

hallcandysmile2“The poisoned candy scare was a moral panic in the United States (and Canada) during the 1970s and 1980s regarding the threat that children could be in danger of ingesting razor blades, needles, or poison introduced to candy by tampering, especially during traditional Halloween trick-or-treating. Apart from one incident—actually an act of premeditated murder by a trick-or-treater’s father—there have been no recorded incidents of deliberately poisoned candy during Halloween or any similar occasion. ” wikipedia.org

Every year around this time, this topic comes up and every year I have to explain to at least a few people that what they are talking about is an urban legend. Halloween candy is your friend, don’t fear it. Sadly it is because of the panic this rumor ensued that it is illegal in several states to hand out homemade treats which is a real shame, imagine the days when there was a change the door you knocked on had a freshly made candy apple for your treat.

A few simple rules should always be exercised, I like to refer to them as common sense:

1. Take a few moments to check over your kids candy before they are allowed to start gobbling it down like true little goblins.
2 Take out any damaged or open pieces, set aside or eat them yourself.
3. Use your best judgment, based on your child’s age some hard candy or gum could be a choking hazard, so you can scarf that stuff as well.

World Animal Day 2010

Author: admin | Filed under: Animals, Cute, Nature, News, Pictures

World Animal day has been recognized every October 4th since 1931! World Animal Day (WAD) is a world-wide event so there is likely to be an event near you! Check your local zoo (National Geographic and zoos across the United States and Canada are working together to celebrate World Animal Day). Check the event calendar on the official World Animal Day website. No matter how you do it, if you care about the animals of this planet, find some way to get involved, to create awareness or to just plain have a good time.

Now, I’d like to draw attention to the Endangered Red Panda. Look at that face…

Red pandas are endangered because of habitat loss. There are fewer than 2,500 adult red pandas.

Red pandas live in the cool temperate bamboo forests in Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces in China, in the Himalayas, and in Myanmar. They share part of their range with giant pandas.

I was wondering around google doing a little research when I discovered, google is a jerk:

Project Kickass (Comments of Win)

Author: admin | Filed under: Funny, Humor, StumbleUpon

Heart1
Chris” has a hilarious website. The content is hysterical throughout his blog and the comments are extra extra win. It appears obvious that he writes a lot of the comments himself under aliases but I know a great deal of them are written by other people as well, even people I know from SU.. So… Really you should just go to his site, read the comments and enjoy browsing his content. I hope he writes some new stuff soon, he’s such a crack-up!

After stumbling onto “Project Kickass” I looked around and found Chris on StumbleUpon. Its unlikely I would have ever wondered onto his site on my own, I owe the Stumble Button a big ty on this one, yay stumbling! I hereby deem him a Star Stumbler.

I ♥ funny bloggers. Chris is a bit “anit-geek” and I still like him (a lot), that should tell you something right there. I snagged up the first few comments on the post for this shirt so you could see what I mean:

The First Day of Summer

Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice

“In the United States and the rest of the northern hemisphere, the first day of the summer season is the day of the year when the Sun is farthest north (on June 20th or 21st). This day is known as the Summer Solstice.

The declination of the Sun on the Summer Solstice is known as the tropic of cancer (23° 27′). In the southern hemisphere, winter and summer solstices are exchanged so that the Summer Solstice is the day on which the Sun is farthest south. ”
