Hans Jorgen Olsen Pwns a Moose IRL Using World of Warcraft Skills
Author: admin | Filed under: Animals, Fun, Geek, NatureThis face melting preteen saved his and his sisters life with his mad MMO skillz! Srsly, how fantastic is that? I am guessing by the description in the article he plays a rogue, he taunted and then feigned death…so WIN! I hope he gets a guild promotion for having crazy RL skillz.
Hans Jørgen Olsen, a 12-year-old Norwegian boy, saved himself and his sister from a moose attack using skills he picked up playing the online role playing game World of Warcraft.
Hans and his sister got into trouble after they had trespassed the territory of the moose during a walk in the forest near their home. When the moose attacked them, Hans knew the first thing he had to do was ‘taunt’ and provoke the animal so that it would leave his sister alone and she could run to safety. ‘Taunting’ is a move one uses in World of Warcraft to get monsters off of the less-well-armored team members.
Once Hans was a target, he remembered another skill he had picked up at level 30 in ‘World of Warcraft’ – he feigned death. The moose lost interest in the inanimate boy and wandered off into the woods. When he was safely alone Hans ran back home to share his tale of video game-inspired survival.
Backpacking Cat On an Epic Journey with a French Couple
Author: admin | Filed under: Animals, Pictures, Travel, Video

Apparently “Kitty” doesn’t have a real name but she clearly has a fun life to make up for it. I wouldn’t mind being called “Kitty” if that meant I could travel across the American continent being carried by a Frenchmen! Wait.. That didn’t come out right… What was I saying? Oh… yes, “Kitty” here has had many adventures, you can see her lap of luxury lifestyle depicted in some of these photographs (and there is even a video!).
According to her owners, Guillaume and Laetitia, they are walking from Miami to Ushuaia, in Argentina (a 3-year trek). You can check their Facebook for updates on where they are in their journey. The budget for the trip is only $2000 per year, but since they are saving on kitty litter that might work out for them okay.

Born Free “Keep Wildlife in the Wild”
Author: admin | Filed under: Animals, Digital art, News, PicturesHabitat loss is threatening the survival of wildlife worldwide. Natural environments are being destroyed and fragmented by human activity, wiping out species’ food sources, dispersing populations and leaving animals around the world literally homeless or displaced.

Born Free believes wild animals need their wild habitats; their home, nothing can compare. Habitat loss is caused by deforestation, war, expansion of human populations and agriculture, climate change and much more. Where habitat loss occurs, species (whether large carnivore or amphibian) are forced into ever-decreasing, fragmented areas which in turn decreases prey numbers, water availability and species’ range. Additionally, human-wildlife conflict increases as encroachment occurs resulting in major problems for wildlife and local communities. Ultimately, habitat loss leads to wildlife population decline and extinction.

Using the spectacular photography of George Logan and the skills of Steve Hawthorne and Katy Hopkins at advertising company WCRS Limited, these images of wild animals placed within an urban setting aim to provide a shocking reminder that wildlife is losing its habitat at an alarming rate. All services involved in this campaign, including advertising space and printing, have been kindly donated and together we are working to raise awareness of the issue and the work which Born Free is doing to “keep wildlife in the wild” – without strong, well-connected areas of habitat, this will be impossible.
Brilliant ad campaign. Feel like doing your part? You can start by boycotting all products containing palm oil, since palm oil is harvested by destroying Orangutan habitat, which in case you haven’t been paying attention is also our rain forests… we kinda need those.
Often “vegetable oil” is written on a product’s ingredient list, the consumer then does not know if they are eating sunflower seed oil, rape oil or palm oil. Palm oil it is often a hidden ingredient, spreading awareness is our best defense.
Remember, saving the animals also saves us. The animals may be the first to go but we’re next.
Here is this same digital photography set by George Logan without the “born free” signs added.
